What made you make the move to Centrica Energy?
I was always intrigued by the company as some of my former colleagues (very wise and nice people) had been working here for some years. I could only guess from that that it must be an interesting place to work with interesting problems to solve.

What does a Quantitative Analyst do?
I build models and tools and analyze data to help and support the Forward Asset Trading-team. My day typically starts with our daily stand-up where we inform each other of what is new, what is pending, impediment, etc. I usually have a couple of meetings per day and the rest of the time I can dig in the problems I am solving or help my colleagues. The most stressful part of the day is our mandatory daily foosball match after lunch.

What’s your favourite thing about being an Energy Mover at Centrica Energy?
I like the atmosphere in our team, the problems to solve and the realistic time in solving those problems. I really feel like I have time for my family and myself, which in turns help me give back at work.

Can you tell us about an achievement you’re proud of?
I am proud that I managed to get a Scrum Master certification and completed a course on pricing options with mathematical models. I also love that there is time for professional growth and that there is an emphasis on this area at Centrica Energy.

What’s your best advice for someone wanting to make the move and join the energy industry?
If you are pursuing an analytical role, I would recommend improving mathematical skills and coding, as it is more and more needed.

What should someone dreaming of becoming an Energy Mover know about Centrica Energy?
Diversity is extremely important to us at Centrica Energy. Everybody sees the world differently and having different perspectives helps tremendously in solving problems, finding new solutions, new ways of doing things.
