What made you make the move to Centrica Energy?
Having the aspiration to break into commodity trading, I was naturally drawn to Centrica Energy, a leader in the industry, and as I was going through the recruitment process, the emphasis put on the graduate programme and the open conversations made it even clearer that I wanted to work here.

 

What do you do in your current rotation?

My team called Systematics Power & Analytics is at the intersection of algorithmic trading, fundamental trading and analytics. We work on systematic strategies, which are essentially lines of code that send us signals to trade on. As an analyst in the team, I am handed projects that span from automating a web scrapper that sends us a message when triggered to using a forecast to build a systematic strategy.  

The range of possibilities and the exposure you get as a graduate here are unique.

What is the best part of being a graduate at Centrica Energy?

What I appreciate the most about being a graduate here is the sheer range of possibilities. Wearing the ‘graduate hat’ allows me to reach out to anyone in the company out of pure curiosity - and it’s always welcomed and even encouraged. We are given an incredible amount of resources, along with the support to explore and collaborate with virtually any department throughout the programme. 

 

Can you tell us about an achievement you’re proud of?

I am very proud to have already made meaningful contributions. Several projects I delivered are being used by members of my team and beyond it. It’s incredibly motivating to see that, just a couple of months in, I’m already able to make a real impact.  

 

What’s your best advice for someone wanting to make the move and join the graduate programme?

Be curious and open to learn.
