What made you make the move to Centrica Energy?
I started as a student developer at Centrica Energy as I wanted to develop my programming skills further. During my interview, I started to realize the complexity in energy and trading, which sounded fascinating to me, and I knew immediately that I would like to work here after my graduation.

What does the Head of Asset Solutions & Algo Data do?
I support the business in solving daily challenges, automating processes, delivering software that helps the integration with the physical world (Power Parks), and provide different data used for analytical purposes, decision making in trading, etc. I also manage the SCRUM process for my team.

What’s your favourite thing about being an Energy Mover at Centrica Energy?
That my skills allow me to automate manual labour and solve challenging tasks. I like to see how my solutions help people excel at their jobs. On top of that, I enjoy helping my team set up good work processes and empower them to experiment with new technologies and ways to work together. I think it is important for people to like their work, so it is truly rewarding when I can make a positive difference for the people around me.

Can you tell us about an achievement you’re proud of?
We implemented a solid and reliable Power Forecast system, which has tremendously improved the onboarding process of new external forecast providers. This in turn, helps the traders get access to new and better forecasts faster, helping them make better trades. Besides the teams’ technical skills, setting up good processes helped us to become a very efficient and high performing team.

What’s your best advice for someone wanting to make the move and join the energy industry?
Surround yourself with smart people who will fuel your hunger for knowledge, motivate you to reach your goals and help develop your career.
