What made you make the move to Centrica Energy?

At first, the graduate programme was the main reason why I wanted to join Centrica Energy. I was a little lost on what to do after I finished my masters, so this programme was the perfect opportunity since it allows you to try three different functions. Other than that, the values of Centrica Energy correspond with my own, which I find very motivating and encouraging.


What do you do in your current rotation?

I’m a Business Manager for our gas and power trading business. This means that I help our trading floor in implementing new initiatives, which require a lot of Change Management skills. Other than that, I drive improvement initiatives to streamline processes and introduce more structure to different areas of the business.

The best part of the Graduate Programme is that you get to explore different parts of the organisation and thus learn a lot about the business. This way you are able to shape your profile and career the way you like.

What is the best part of being a graduate at Centrica Energy?

We are highly encouraged to learn, network and to shape our career in the right direction for us. We are likewise provided with a lot of great experiences – most recently a leadership/followership course at Sandhurst Military Academy. Furthermore, we have a great graduate community, where we help each other along the way and have just become really good friends.

Can you tell us about an achievement you’re proud of?

In my first rotation, I implemented Power BI as a reporting tool in the Finance department, which was not used before. I built the tools from scratch and afterwards trained the department in Power BI enabling them to take full ownership of the tools.

 

What’s your best advice for someone wanting to make the move and join the graduate programme?

Just do it! This is a great way to kickstart your career. If you are a little unsure about what you want to do and want to explore different areas of the energy business, this is an amazing opportunity, so don’t hesitate with that application.


What should someone dreaming of becoming an Energy Mover know about Centrica Energy?
