At the official opening of the Kikkenborg battery energy storage facility today, Centrica Energy and Lisby WP announced the signing of an optimisation agreement for Denmark's first commercial wind-coupled battery project.
Developed by Lisby WP and BattMan Energy, the 2.25 MW / 4.5 MWh facility combines wind generation and battery storage in a single system. Under the agreement, Centrica Energy will provide route-to-market and optimisation services for the Kikkenborg BESS, enabling participation in short-term power trading and ancillary service markets.
Drawing on extensive experience in Danish ancillary service markets and grid-scale battery optimisation across Europe, Centrica Energy will leverage its advanced multi-market optimisation platform to maximise the value of the asset across multiple markets.
At the Kikkenborg site, the integrated battery solution enables wind energy to be stored when the grid is congested and dispatched when needed, increasing the overall utilisation of the wind turbine.
The facility utilises BattMan Energy's BattCon power plant controller, which interacts with Centrica Energy's optimisation and trading platform to maximise value creation across energy and ancillary service markets.
