Introducing Renewable Flexibility

The significance of ancillary services in conjunction with renewables is a key for enabling a greener, fairer energy system.

 

Renewable energy technologies such as wind and solar power offer inherent advantages in terms of environmental sustainability and scalability. However, their intermittency and variability pose challenges to grid stability and necessitate innovative solutions. Renewable flexibility allows for renewables to support the grid and create new value streams through capacity and physical energy auctions and allows them to go from obstacle to catalyst.

 

By leveraging advanced control systems, trading and steering algorithms Centrica has enabled grid-connected renewables can actively contribute to the stabilisation of the grid, enhancing its flexibility and responsiveness.

Centrica Energy is an active front runner in Renewable Flexibility, being the first to prequalify renewable flexibility in Lithuania with solar and the first ever aFRR provider from renwables in Finland.
